As part of my role as the Social Media Manager for NBC 7 San Diego, I was responsible for live community management during: Breaking news, special promotions (#NBC7SendMeToTheVoice) and special events (political debates, prime time coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2014 Golden Globes Awards show).
Live-tweeting and creation of custom Twitter timelines were part of these initiatives.
2014 Winter Olympics
From February 6-23, 2014 I live-tweeted prime time coverage of the Sochi Winter Games. This included sending a minimum of 30 carefully crafted tweets out over a three to four-hour period of time.
Goals: To foster engagement with social audience and generate page views for two sites dedicated to Olympic coverage.
Examples:
NBC 7 Mayoral Debates
On November 15, 2013 and January 23, 2014, NBC 7 televised two live debates between the candidates running for mayor of the city of San Diego.
Goals: To keep online audience informed of what was being said by candidates during televised debate and to drive that audience to live stream coverage of the event.
